Seeing as it is now the prime of summer, you’re probably looking for some cheerful indie rock to soundtrack these sun soaked days. Look no further then Kent – specifically, the unsigned talents of Island Cassettes. Whilst touring the local venue and festival circuit, these up and comers debuted a one off single on Kissability: the tracks ‘Navajo’ and ‘Angizwa’ on – wait for it – a cassette tape. Perfect, wouldn’t you say?

And these spirited, tropical-tinged numbers are a great taste of what Island Cassettes are made of – it’s sweet indeed. Both are packed with layers of ringy guitars and worldbeatish percussion. Their sunny, uptempo vibe (though notably contrasted by the wistful laments in the lyrics of ‘Angizwa’) and catchy rhythms construct a unique sound that is deliciously infectious. Hopefully, we’ll see more from, and of, this southern England fivesome soon.
