Hayley Williams has hinted that Paramore may release new music, revealing she currently has no plans to make another solo album.
The Paramore frontwoman released her second solo album, FLOWERS FOR VASES / descansos, in a surprise drop on 5 February. The record follows her debut solo album, Petals for Armor, which was released less than a year ago in May 2020.
Taking to twitter to discuss her latest release, she told fans: “I thought that’d be it for my ‘solo career’ but quarantine makes people do crazy things. I made an album.”
It appears that the surprise second album might really “be it” for now, as Williams revealed her solo career is on pause to focus on Paramore.
In a twitter Q&A, she was asked whether any songs that didn’t make it onto FLOWERS FOR VASES / descansos might be used for future solo or Paramore projects. Williams answered: “there are more songs, yeah. but I’m not planning on another solo album. and I’m not sure if they’d be great for Paramore. I’m ready for the next Paramore album. let’s go.”
Another fan asked what songs she was excited to hear sung back to her on tour. She responded: “i can’t wait to hear a lot of songs sung back to me. I’m mostly looking forward to hearing what the next Paramore songs will sound like.”
The news will come as a welcome relief to fans that feared the worst for Paramore. In January, Williams tweeted a link to a collection of essays from fans of Petals for Armor. Above the link, she wrote: “Long read, especially if you’re not a fan of me/my solo album lol”, prompting some fans to think that she was announcing a Paramore split. She was quick to dispel these assumptions, writing “lol y’all been worried about that too long. Aint happening”.
After an extended break from the band, and two solo releases, it seems that Williams is now eager to get Paramore back on track. Speaking of Paramore, she wrote on twitter “They are my favorite musicians in the world. I’m excited to see how our writing together grows for this next project”.
Paramore’s most recent album, After Laughter, was released in 2017.
