Members of SAG-AFTRA, the union which represents actors, voice over artists and other media professionals, have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a possible strike.
The vote came around earlier this year as a result of negotiations regarding the Interactive Media contracts, which expired last December. Negotiations held in February and June failed to produce a new agreement.
Among the measures being proposed by the union are a limit being placed on the amount of time a performer spends on a “vocally stressful” performance, more stunt coordinators for performance/motion capture sessions and bonus payments for actors on titles that sell more than two million units that would be capped at eight million.
With the vote result – which was 96% in favour – the union’s leaders now have the power to call a strike without the need for a second vote, furthering the need for a solution to be found.
