Gaming News: Final Fantasy XV Release Date Confirmed

The release date was confirmed at the Uncovered: Final Fantasy Event.

Final Fantasy XV has an official release date. During the Uncovered: Final Fantasy event in Los Angeles, publisher Square Enix announced the game would be released worldwide on September 30 2016. During the event, which was live-streamed on YouTube, it was also announced that a free demo for the game would be available to download on PS4 and Xbox one with no purchase required.

Describing the demo, Square Enix explained, “Platinum Demo – Final Fantasy XV whisks players away to a fragmented dreamscape, introducing an original story with a number of unique twists. Join young Noctis and his magical guide, Carbuncle as you explore the fantastical world of his dreams.”

Along with the game’s release date, there was also the announcement that there would be an accompanying anime series. Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV will consist of five, standalone episodes following protagonist Noctis and will serve as a prequel to the game, introducing Noctis to his travel companions. All episodes will be available to watch on YouTube for free.

Final Fantasy XV is scheduled to be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 30. Watch the Uncovered: Final Fantasy event in full below.
