Tomb Raiding and a Revolution

rise of the tomb raiderMicrosoft gave fans a real look at the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider. With six minutes of gameplay footage following Lara as she learns new skills and sorts her weapons and supplies at base camp to travelling through a vast landscape before taking out agents and soldiers from the Trinity Organisation – who appear to be the antagonists for this edition – while making her journey to a mountaintop ruin. Showing off all the different ways Lara can deal with opponents and obstacles was the aim of this demo (with a second environmental cinematic/concept art trailer) and a chance to see what players will experience when the game is released in November.

For those looking for a more near-future-fallen-America-rebellion angle to their guerilla fighting there is Homefront: The Revolution. In 2029, America has fallen to an invading (possibly Korean) force and are now starting to really fight back. A cinematic trailer showed the story so far – while a young boy reads a speech of thanks to his country’s oppressors – before the single-player gameplay demo takes us into the open world shooter action, with the player making their way to a communications relay. The beta for Homefront: The Revolution will be open (with multi and co-op play features) later this year with the game scheduled for a 2016 release.
