As anyone who enjoys gaming will know, Steam is a treasure chest of great games available for download across a variety of genres. Below we have compiled a few of our favourites available on the site, so be sure to check them out!

Red Orchestra 2

Red Orchestra 2 comes from the cult developer Tripwire Interactive, who have recently begun to garner mainstream attention following their decision to release zombie co-op survival game Killing Floor 2 on both PC and Playstation 4. On the surface, it appears no more than another meathead online shooter, where I would be repeatedly told by a nine-year-old boy how he was a professional gamer for Optic, upon a frustrating death. I could not have been more wrong.

RO2 lobs you into the Russian Front in 1942, which is as close as you can get to hell on earth. You can assume various roles (rifleman, assault troop, etc) for either the Soviets or the Germans. The realism is extreme. You die with one shot, conveying the carnage and massacre of the Russian Front as your comrades cry out and fall in droves. The terror of artillery strikes, the hammering machine guns, the intense terror of seeing an enemy soldier who has also seen you and is aiming down his sights all earn the game its moniker “PTSD simulator”. Red Orchestra is a hardcore, brutal, unforgiving nerve-ripper and I love it to bits.
