The Fast & Furious franchise is showing no signs of slowing down, with Fast & Furious 10 due to hit cinema screens in April 2023.

Covid-19 delayed Fast & Furious 9 by 11 months, but that did not stop the film from earning $681.5 million and becoming the highest-grossing film released during the pandemic.

Vin Diesel will be returning as Dominic Toretto in Fast & Furious 10, alongside many other familiar faces. However, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will again be absent from the Fast & Furious franchise, something which many news outlets attributed to onset friction between Johnson and Vin Diesel after the former was absent from the eighth film.

When asked about the issues Vin Diesel, who has also served as one of the series’ producers, claimed to adopt a “tough love” approach on set to get the best out of his co-stars. Johnson, during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, responded that “I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10, and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”

The Meg star Jason Statham made a brief cameo as his character Deckard Shaw during the end credits of the 9th film, and rumour has it that fans can expect to see Shaw return in the 10th installment.

Fellow stars of the franchise—including Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris Bridges and Jordana Brewster—seem likely to return for Fast & Furious 10. In addition to the return of regular characters, Cardi B is expected to reprise her role as Leysa, with Vin Diesel telling Entertainment Tonight at the 9th film’s premiere, “We are very much excited to evolve her character and to expand it to the finale.”

Vin Diesel and the series’ Director Justin Lin have confirmed that the franchise will end with the 11th installment, with Lin recently saying that “We’re kind of reconfiguring everything so that the next two movies should wrap up this amazing journey for these characters.” Nonetheless, the record-breaking franchise currently remains as popular as ever.
