There’s A Light That Never Goes Out (Live) // Johnny Marr

Seeing the man himself playing this song live – especially the simple yet stunning outro solo – mere feet away from you, is something that really stays with you. It is without a doubt the closest anyone of our generation will come to what fans back in the 80s experienced – at least without a reunion of course. However, the willful adoration of the masses towards it has only grown greater since the commencing of Marr’s solo career. The subtle combination of virtually inaudible bass and echoing high notes never ceases to mesmerise the hundreds to thousands in attendance. An experience most likely shared by the four on stage, as the crowd’s singing of the ever-memorable title back at them concludes only seconds before. Words by Alex Graham
