Devolver Digital has presented its latest showcase. Titled “Devolver Digital Marketing Countdown to Marketing”, it continued a long-running tradition where the publisher takes a more cinematic approach to their presentations.

With a malfunctioning mecha – played by Suda51 – bringing about a video game singularity in which all games, companies and people merge together into one entity with control over all of gaming, the story of this year’s presentation had Devolver’s signature humour and style throughout.

Each of the games presented also showcased the wide range of games currently in development under the Devolver banner.

First up was Cult of the Lamb, a twisted take on world-building, town management and fantasy with a cast of cute animals with a not so cute mission – return an ancient evil to the world to take over all who oppose you. The game will be available from August 11 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Up next was the aptly titled Anger Foot. A first-person title expanded from an itch.io game, Anger Foot will see the player using “the world’s deadliest feet” to smash their way through a city battling all kinds of enemies along the way. The game is available to wishlist now on Steam ahead of a 2023 release.

The third trailer was for the newly released Card Shark, a game set at the card tables and duelling fields of 18th Century France, which is available now on Nintendo Switch and PC.

In a turn from the more dramatic titles, the next game showcased was The Plucky Squire, a 2D/3D adventure following the story of the titular squire, Jot, as they emerge from the pages of a storybook into a child’s bedroom. With a mix of platforming, combat and mini-games alongside the two different perspectives, The Plucky Squire is currently planned to release in 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Finally, there was the reveal that Skate Story, the underworld skateboarding title being developed by Sam Eng in which you play as a demon made of glass and pain, will be released by Devolver Digital in 2023. A new trailer showcased the environments, characters and skate styles and tricks players will be able to do when the game launches on PC.

To close out the presentation, there were behind the scenes looks at how the presentation was put together, along with some humorous inserts into the closing credits.
