Forming in 2012, bedhed are a four-piece from West Sussex that specialise in punk rock. Having worked on individual projects previously, Chris Robertson (guitars), Matt Webb (bass), Tom Carlberg (drums) and James Ikin (guitars) all came together to start playing local shows, with each member contributing to the vocals in one way or another. The band released their first EP The Long Commute in May 2014.

The EP features six songs, the sixth track being acoustic. The opening track titled ‘Bigger & Better’ is a great opener that honestly makes you wonder why the band aren’t bigger, because ironically they couldn’t be better. With a fast beat that serves to make your head spin, the song is one that could be lodged inside your brain for quite some time after just one listen.

‘Open My Beer… I’m Driving!’ is the second track and is truly the most intriguing based on the title, kind of reflecting Fall Out Boy’s cleverly titled early days. I’m not disappointed as the song continues the party. With slightly more sentimental lyrics than the last track, with a lyrical based on a poisonous relationship, the song is still enough to make you want to move your feet and would be an excellent crowd pleaser. ‘Summertime (Acoustic)’ is the final track on the EP and definitely the most moving by far. With group vocals that only serve to make the song more emotional, the lyrics back this philosophy up with lines like: “Emotions are never easy so I sing when I can’t speak” as well as more uplifting lyrics like “don’t look back on the bad times”.

Overall this EP is an extremely solid release that shows off the band’s potential and exclaims that they deserve more recognition for all their hard work.
