Opening their 2022/23 Season at the London Coliseum, the English National Opera (ENO) has announced it will present the UK Premiere of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet’s new production of Puccini’s beloved opera, Tosca.

Directed by Christof Loy and conducted by Leo Hussain, the production’s cast is comprised of Sinéad Campbell-Wallace as Floria Tosca (Soprano), Adam Smith as Mario Cavaradossi (Tenor), Noel Bouley as Baron Scarpia (Baritone), Msimelelo Mbali as Cesare Angelotti (Bass), Lucia Lucas as Sacristan (Baritone), John Findon as Spoletta (Tenor), and Ossian Huskinson as Sciarrone (Bass-Baritone).

Christian Schmidt is the designer, while Olaf Winter is the lighting designer and Georg Zlabinger is the associate director. Edmund Tracey is the translator.

ENO’s Artistic Director, Annilese Miskimmon, said: “A new Tosca is a real event for any opera house and this beautiful, glamorous staging leads us from the grandeur of a cathedral in Rome straight into the heart of corrupt power. This riveting story of passion, love and murder is unmissable for both first-time opera goers and Puccini lovers.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome audiences back to our home, the London Coliseum, where we are offering free tickets for under 21s and discounted tickets for anyone under 35 for all ENO performances, including this operatic treat with the full forces of the ENO Chorus and Orchestra bringing this amazing opera to life.”

The ENO’s Tosca will run from 30 September to 4 November 2022.
