Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre have announced their 2023 spring season with a selection of shows running from March until May.

The season begins with Pain and I, an experimental show about the complexities of living with chronic pain created by Sarah Hopfinger. The show will be accessible as a live dance performance on 15 March or as a 30 minute audio performance from 4 to 19 March.

When Darkness Falls, a ghost story by James Milton and Paul Morrissey, will run from 21 to 25 March. Set on Guernsey, the play follows a paranormal expert and a history teacher as they record a podcast about the island’s paranormal history and discover their own ghosts.

On 24 March, there is a free performance of The Third Sister, written by Xana Marwick and directed by Jonathan Lloyd. Eilidh is haunted by the tragic death of her sister Rowan 30 years earlier.

On 6 April is a show for the whole family with the all-singing, all-dancing Fireman Sam: Sam Saves the Circus

For ‘Dundee Week’ there are two performances. Ane City by Elfie Picket Theatre on 13 April blends spoken word, stand-up comedy and live music to explore what it means to be a working class woman in modern Scotland. This is followed by Icebreaker Comedy, which features comics Luis Alcada, Andy Bullick and Scott Redmond, on 14 April.

Internationally renowned singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean will be performing on 15 April. He is best known for his lyrical, folk-style songwriting and his most famous song ‘Caledonia’.

Dundee Youth Music Theatre will be performing their version of the classic American musical Oklahoma from 3 to 6 May.

Well-known Scottish comedian Craig Hill returns to Dundee Rep on 26 May with his new show I Always Knew I Had It In Me!

Executive director & joint-chief executive Liam Sinclair said: “We are hugely excited for audiences to experience the amazing range of shows coming to Dundee Rep over the next few months.

“It’s only the tip of the iceberg though, and we can’t wait to reveal what else audiences can look forward to in the near future.”

The rep’s spring season also includes previously announced shows SmileOld Boy and Thin H/as H/air & The Flock.

Tickets went on sale on 24 January and more information about the spring season can be found on the Dundee Rep website.
