The New Classic // Iggy Azalea
Sandwiched between US punks I Am The Avalanche and alt-metallers InMe in my iPod is Iggy Azalea and her debut triumph ‘The New Classic’. Although, many would have me pinned as Iggy & The Stooges fan, it is in fact the Aussie rapper ‘I.G.G.Y’ who I take favour with.
Twitter spats and pronunciation issues aside, ‘The New Classic’ was a breath of fresh air on hip-hop scene following its release last year. You couldn’t avoid the wonderfully infectious ‘Fancy’ or the Rita Ora collaboration ‘Black Widow’ for that matter.
With plenty of support from her fellow artist, the album featured guests like T.I. and Charli XCX too whilst the re-release of the album Reclassified included tracks from MO, Ellie Goulding and Jennifer Hudson.
Away from the star studded collection of contributors, what you get from Iggy Azalea is a full frontal assault of sass, wit and aggression. What’s not to love?
What can I tell ya? Everybody needs some Azalea.
