The Edinburgh Fringe Society have launched a Crowdfunder to help the festival return in 2021, after tit was cancelled this year for the first time in its history.

The Society have said that they need an £250,000 over the next year. This money will go towards supporting Edinburgh’s arts community and ensuring that the Fringe makes a return next year, potentially with a mixture of in-person and online events.

The Fringemas Fundraiser aims to raise the first £25,000 of the total needed through an online fundraising campaign.

The Society are also holding a raffle with numerous prizes on offer, including a limited edition Hamilton film poster signed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and signed books from Adam Kay and Joe Lycett. There are also festive Fringemas baubles for sale, with all profits going towards the campaign.

On their Crowdfunder page, the Society said “following the news that the Fringe would not go ahead as planned… we’ve been doing everything we can to help ensure the Fringe survives, stabilises and strengthens. The challenges have been tough, but we are determined to continue to fight to save the Fringe for future generations to enjoy and benefit from.”

You can donate to the Crowdfunder here.
