Cirque Du Soleil are returning to the Royal Albert Hall with Luzia, which the show’s producers describe as “one of the most technically demanding shows ever to be staged there.”

The world-renowned circus company are also marking 25 years since their first performance at the London venue. The new show is a theatrical exploration of Mexican history, mythology, and culture.

Luiza will also form part of the Royal Albert Hall’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

In a statement, the show’s producers stated that “in a series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances, Luiza takes audiences on a surrealistic journey through a vibrant world filled with wonders, playfulness and striking artistry.

“Smoothly passing from an old movie set to the ocean to a smoky dance hall or an arid desert, Luiza cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity.”

Luiza is written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, who previously worked with Cirque Du Soleil on their 2018 relaunch of Corteo. Pasca is joined in the creative team by Creative Guide Jean-François Bouchard, Associate Director Brigitte Poupart, and Director of Creation Patricia Ruel, among others. The new show is the company’s 38th original production since Cirque Du Soleil was founded in 1984.

Tickets for the new show go on general sale on 29 April, and are available from the Cirque Du Soleil website and the Royal Albert Hall’s website.
