The full cast has been announced for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s First Encounters with Shakespeare touring production of Twelfth Night.
The production stars Daniella Agredo Piper as Viola, Stanton Wright as Sebastian and Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Ibraheem Toure as Duke Orsinio, Laura Smithers as Olivia, Emma Manton as Malvolio, Pérola Congo as Maria, Tyreke Leslie as Antonio and Sir Toby Belch, and Alice Blundell as Feste.
The creative team features Robin Belfield (director), Georgie White (designer), Simon Slater (music), Asha Jennings-Grant (movement) and Nicky Cox (associate director). Furthermore, schools throughout the tour will work with RSC creative associates Nicole Joseph, Becky Salt, Ellie Warr and Mykey Young.
Belfield commented on the production: “We want children and young people’s first encounters with live theatre and Shakespeare to be fun, engaging, and meaningful. So, we asked them what was important to them, and two things came across very clearly and consistently: that the show should be a co-creation between the RSC and the young people themselves and that climate crisis should sit at its heart.”
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s First Encounters with Shakespeare touring production of Twelfth Night will tour from 20 September to 12 November 2022 and will be performed in schools and theatres nationwide. It will travel to Birmingham, Northampton, Cumbria, Blackpool, County Durham, Middlesbrough, York, Bradford, Hull, Nottingham, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Suffolk, and Stratford-upon-Avon.
