The Bristol Old Vic has announced full programme details for their upcoming summer season.
The season will begin with a revival of Touching the Void from 26-29 May, which premiered at the theatre in 2018. Audiences can view the show in person, or at home through a livestream.
Outlier, written and performed by Malaika Kegode, will be the first new performance of the year. It will run from 12-26 June, with two nights being live streamed to audiences.
Furthermore, the Old Vic’s Young Company will star in a showcase exploring the theme of belonging on 12 July. There will also be a live performance directed by Katie Storer as part of the building’s Family Day on 7 August.
In addition, young performers from the theatre’s Made in Bristol initiative will present their first live show.
Fourteen actors from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School will present The Three Seagulls from 2-10 July under the direction of Olivier award-winning director Sally Cookson.
The theatre is also set to run tours on 30 and 31 May to celebrate their 255th birthday. The theatre’s Thunder Run, a wooden trough that runs above the stage and was used to simulate the sounds of thunder during the 18th century, will be opened to the public for the first time.
