Mimed Sculptures, 2016

“Mimed Sculptures”  is a performed recreation of iconic 20th century sculptures including those by Henry Moore, Alberto Giacometti and Louise Bourgeois among others. In his recent work, Davide Balula continues to engage with multi-sensorial practice and draw on notions of interpretative memory. Numerous mimes shape the air with their pink-gloved hands revealing the outlines and contours of invisible works. As they move along, each section disappears, challenging the viewer’s memory as they attempt to piece the parts together to form a whole.
