Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be the next title in the long-running series.
The announcement comes following a report from Eurogamer regarding a leaked image supposedly from a Forty Thieves themed quest – which was shared in a now-deleted tweet from fansite The Codex Network – showing a hooded assassin standing in front of an open door awaiting the arrival of an enemy. The images were later shared around by others on social media, further fuelling the speculation that a reveal was imminent.
The official announcement would come soon after, with the confirmation of the game’s title – Assassin’s Creed Mirage – and that a full reveal of the game would be taking place during the next Ubisoft Forward presentation, which is scheduled to take place on September 10.
While very few details are known about the game, fans have speculated that a previously supporting character could be taking on a more prominent role. The official artwork features an Assassin mid-jump about to take down a target. Many fans have noted the figure resembles Basim Ibn Ishaq, who appears in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as Eivor’s guide in the world of the Hidden Ones alongside his apprentice Hytham.
An announcement about the future of the franchise had been hinted at earlier this year, during a special presentation from Ubisoft to mark the upcoming 15th anniversary of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
