4. Inside Out // Spoon
American rockers, Spoon, are the next band to be played on Apple’s Alternative Radio station. By no means the new kids on the block, Spoon formed back before I was even born, in 1993. Their chilled out sound is surprisingly electronic in track ‘Inside Out’, from their eighth studio album They Want My Soul, which was released back in 2014.
There’s something Roxy Music-esque about the strident and unapologetically infectious melodic hook which the song rests upon. Confirming that less is indeed more, this dreamlike sonic entity couples a repetitive electronic groove with the tender vocal of Britt Daniel to ensure evident success.
