The sequel was confirmed on Monday 7th October via a social media post by Creative Assembly’s Creative Director Alistair Hope, who also served as the director for the first game. The post, which commemorated Alien: Isolation’s 10th anniversary stated:

“On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear. Alien: Isolation was released on October 7th 2014 to generally favourable reviews. The game is a spinoff of the Alien film franchise which starred Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley from 1979 to 1997. Isolation follows Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen who was first mentioned in the extended edition of Aliens.

Alien: Isolation made Amanda a protagonist/player character in her own right for the first time in franchise history. The game follows Amanda as she investigates her mother’s disappearance. But when Amanda finds herself trapped aboard the space station Sevastopol with an alien creature on the loose, Amanda (and the player) have to use stealth and smarts to survive.

Alien: Isolation is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC and Switch. No platform or release window has been confirmed for the sequel at the time of writing.
