It’s that time of year again, where days get shorter, leaves start falling and there’s a Christmas cheer in the air. And with this, the ‘of the year’ lists start making their way out of the woodwork. So we decided to join in on the fun.
This year’s treasure trove of albums has been something special. From Beyoncé’s Lemonade to Blossoms’ self-titled debut we’ve had a hell of a year! Our ears have certainly had a treat, so much so that narrowing this year’s wave of albums was almost impossible, but, we managed it.

Album: Babes Never Die

Honeyblood burst back onto the scene in late 2016 with Babes Never Die, their second album. Better still, they came back with a bigger and better sound. In 2016, they’ve progressed from being a cute wee band singing sad songs about love to a rock band that sound ambitious, daring and no longer at the mercy of the world. While it’s true Babes Never Die doesn’t sound too different from what we’ve heard from bands like Nirvana and Pixies, it’s an exhilarating thrill ride. Just listen to singles Sea Hearts and Ready for the Magic if you need proof that Honeyblood should be your new favourite band.
