Album: Boy King

Artist: Wild Beasts

Release: August 5

Combining an angst-ridden undercurrent with groove akin to Justin Timberlake, Wild Beasts’ Boy King is a record that takes a refreshingly new approach than their previous four studio albums. Their normally ornate nature is here replaced by an almost bionic sound achieved with the help of St. Vincent producer, John Congleton. The first single, Get My Bang is a prime example of this mechanised funk, an ode to being lost in lust that pulsates to the tune of fractured female voices. In Boy King, Wild Beasts provide a highly enjoyable, yet loaded depiction of being consumed by desire.
