The latest film from Ridley Scott, Gucci, is set to be a truly fashionable treat.

Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are reportedly on their way to join Lady Gaga in this cinematic exploration of the turbulent history of the Gucci family.

Scott’s film is poised to examine the assassination attempt by Gaga’s Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, with the screenplay basing itself off of Sara Gay Forden’s The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. While Driver has only been nominated for an Oscar, his fellow cast of Gaga, Leto, Pacino and De Niro have garnered a total of 5 Academy Awards between them, with Scott himself having been nominated a grand 4 times.

It will be interesting to see what Gaga in particular brings to this role, having received much acclaim for her portrayal of the beloved Ally in Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born, as this will be her first major film feature since her acclaimed performance.

It is currently unreported which Italian shoes the rest of the star-studded cast is set to fill. However, excitement is buzzing at the cinematic realisation of this notorious drama that landed Gucci’s ex-wife behind bars for almost 30 years, having only recently been released in 2016. Gucci’s death ended his family’s reign of the iconic fashion house, which had been conceived by his Florentine ancestor in 1921. The orchestration of Gucci’s death by his ex-wife is thought to be the result of both financial and personal woes, aspects which promise to bring just as much drama as it will glamour.

Scott is currently resuming production on the period piece The Last Duel, starring the film’s writers, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Gucci looks to be another similar passion project, with the script having been brought to Scott’s attention by his partner Giannina Scott. From one family affair to another, Gucci is already one to look forward to.
