The stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d will tour the UK this autumn.

Adapted for the stage by Rachel Wagstaff, the murder mystery follows Christie’s beloved elderly sleuth, Miss Marple, as she investigates a poisoning, seemingly intended for a famous movie star. Wagstaff describes the play as “a fascinating mystery, packed with a rich constellation of characters, all struggling with loneliness and the long shadows cast by grief.”

The upcoming production will feature Susie Blake of Victoria Wood and Coronation Street fame as Miss Marple, with the supporting cast still to be announced. Reflecting on her casting, Blake said that “to play a bright, independent, older woman is surprising and exciting for the period it was written in as well as in our society today.”

The Mirror Crack’d will tour around seven venues in Eastbourne, Darlington, York, Mold, Northampton, Norwich and Southend-on-Sea from 8 September to 3 December 2022, with more dates still to be announced.

It will be produced by Alastair Whatley and Tom Hackney for The Original Theatre Company. Philip Franks will direct, while Emma Chapman is responsible for lighting design and Max Pappenheim will do sound design.

Published in 1962, The Mirror Crack’d is best known to some audiences for its 1980 film adaptation starring Elizabeth Taylor, Angela Lansbury, and Kim Novak.

Tickets for The Mirror Crack’d can be purchased through each venue’s website.
