A Stone’s Throw Festival is coming back to the North East on the 25th of May, set around the Newcastle coastline in Tynemouth and South Shields. To get you excited for the start of summer 2024, we have compiled a selection of various artists who you have to keep an eye out for, some local to the area, and others from further afield.
Sundara Karma
For those of you that have been frequenting festivals for the past few years, you’ll know the essentials and veterans to the UK’s indie scene that are Sundara Karma. As main headliners to A Stone’s Throw, we are looking forward to high-energy performances of ‘She Said’ and ‘Explore.’
Vistas
Another example for the festival’s perfect curation of acts, who will nicely complement the sunny atmosphere alongside Sundara Karma, Vistas are next up. These guys are another nostalgic look to classic upbeat indie.
SIPHO.
Following his 2023 album PRAYERS AND PARANOIA, SIPHO.’s varied discography is full of explosive and unique anthems, highlighting moving and powerful themes, which are contrasted by the jungle beats.
Pip Blom
Hailing from Amsterdam, Pip Blom are an act to get excited for. With their tinges of grunge and punk, alongside their gritty, yet catchy guitar rhythm, we are hoping to hear their hits ‘School’ and ‘Babies Are A Lie’
Frankie Archer
As a native of the North East, Frankie Archer is a pillar of the niche electro-folk sub genre, combining synth sounds with her melodic fiddle, which weaves into the storytelling within her music. She’s a true credit to the lineup.
Bilk
Bilk, coming up from Essex, are one of the newer alternative acts, a trio reminiscent of early 2000s Brit rock who constantly provide energetic performances. They are one for the radar. We’re looking forward to hearing ‘Spiked’.
Arthur Hill
Admittedly, it came as a pleasant surprise to us that TikTok’s very own Arthur Hill made music, but after giving ‘Iced Coffee’ a listen, I was put into a summery daze. He is a very fitting choice to kickstart the warm weather, and will slot in nicely amongst the other acts.
Arctic Lake
Arctic Lake will change up the genre a little. The dreamy pop duo are going to bring their electronic sound to A Stone’s Throw. ‘Are You Okay?’ is definitely the song for those of you looking to get a powerful anthem fix.
Cat Ryan
Another group formed in the North East, Cat Ryan will be bringing indie pop to the festival. They are an energetic and exciting addition to the line up with their rhythmic guitar and upbeat melodies.
Opus Kink
Opus Kink can be described as more of an experience, and they are definitely the act we are most excited for. Self-described as “goth salsa”, they have arisen onto the UK’s post-punk scene with their mythic discography, combining jazz with any other genre they can conjure up. You can’t miss the opportunity to jump around to ‘I Love You, Baby’.
