The rumours are true: a huge chunk of your childhood is making a comeback. Don your bucket hats and your mini backpacks because some of the most iconic shows of the last two decades are returning.

The news comes as part of a major revival of shows for Paramount+, the rebranded reboot of CBS All Access. This week ViacomCBS chair Shari Redstone made a bold announcement: “This is a big day, a new day, a new beginning”.

Join us as we take a look into what you can expect on your screens this year…

iCarly

You can leave it all to 2021 to come through with the reboots. One we are majorly excited about is Emmy-nominated show iCarly. As the OG influencer, Carly created a web show that became an internet phenomenon. Most importantly, taking part are some original cast members, including Nathan Kress, Jerry Trainor, and of course Carly herself — Miranda Cosgrove.

With the original run available now on Netflix, be sure to catch up before the crew return later this year.

Rugrats

Thirty years after Tommy and the gang first crawled onto our screens, Rugrats is back for a new generation.

The iconic Klasky Csupó animation is receiving the CGI treatment for a 2021 release.
Best of all, the original cast are returning to voice the toddlers, so it looks like playtime never ended.

Dora the Explorer

We last saw the Latina explorer in the 2019 film Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Thanks to the film’s success, the show has been revived for a live-action series. The hugely popular original animated series ran for eight seasons. Thanks to a 2021 renovation, the show will once again whisk 6–11 year-olds on exciting adventures.

Joining the seven year-old explorer will be her talking purple backpack and trusty monkey Boots for guaranteed fun and games.

The Fairly OddParents

This wacky animation debuted in 2001 and ran for a whopping ten seasons, making it one of Nickelodeon’s longest-running shows. It will join Dora the Explorer in a live-action/CGI makeover for the digital age.

Following ten year-old Timmy Turner and his two fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda, it was a true fan favourite. Twenty years after launch, will Timmy still be dealing with distracted parents and malevolent babysitters?

And in case that wasn’t enough, more shows are making a comeback including Frasier, Star Trek, and SpongeBob SquarePants.
