1. Hooton Tennis Club

Wirral rockers Hooton Tennis Club are one of the most buzzed-about bands to have broken through the indie ranks, a storming set at this year’s Glastonbury Festival charming thousands, a dream bill supporting King Gizzard & The Wizard Lizard at London’s Scala propelling the band into the hearts of all. Their music, guitar-based fused with kitschy, bouncy pop is akin to summer through your headphones, bubbling with effervescence and a joyous sense of wonder. Their brand of up-beat lo-fi swims along the likes of Pavement and Teenage Fan Club, shining track ‘Kathleen Sat On the Arm of Her Favourite Chair’ a melodious venture into quirky beats and funky pop anthems. The song includes a lyric – “I get by with a couple of friends” – that might just be a nod to the classic Beatles song.

Debut album ‘Highest Point In Cliff Town’ is to be released August 28th, one of this year’s most anticipated records; the band headline a major UK and European tour this fall. Hooton Tennis Club fill your lungs with warmth and splendour, the vibrance and zeal of their hometown of Liverpool showing brightly through.
