Hailing from Birmingham, ‘California Daze’ by indie royalty Peace is a sunny, sugary, life-affirming anthem. The following lyrics are perhaps illustrating the emotions one goes through as they eventually start to get over the relationship – less bitterness at the fact it’s over, and more being happy at the fact it happened, and being thankful for the good times you both had together. The song could be seen as being borderline cheesy, but Peace’s intricate guitar parts alongside the whole aesthetic of the band (glitter, irony and a whole lot of summer vibes) manage to salvage this song from the realm of guilty pleasures.
