Xbox has hosted a special Livestream event to mark the start of their 20th Anniversary celebrations. Broadcast across multiple platforms, the event looked back at 20 years of Xbox, with highlights of iconic moments and some surprises for fans.
With a look back to the Xbox launch with Bill Gates and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to the ‘breath-taking’ appearance of Keanu Reeves at E3 2019 to promote Cyberpunk 2077, the From The Vault clips took fans through the journey of Xbox through to the 20th Anniversary celebrations.
While there were no new games or hardware announced, there was the announcement that a new six-part documentary Power On – The Story of Xbox would be debuting on streaming platforms on December 13. Featuring interviews with the original development team for the first Xbox, the film series will take fans through the untold story of the console’s early development and all the highs and lows from those early years.
Closing out the show was a special video from the team at 343 Industries and their flagship franchise Halo, which is also celebrating its 20th Anniversary. Studio Head Bonnie Rice confirmed that a Halo live-action series will be coming to Paramount+ in 2022, while Studio Head Joseph Staten thanks the fans for their patience after Halo Infinite was delayed until December 2021.
Finally, Tom French from the Halo Multiplayer team made a very special announcement to end the event – Season One of Halo Infinite Multiplayer subtitled Heroes of Reach is available now for free to all players to enjoy ahead of the campaign’s launch on December 8.
