What Exactly Is Coachella Style?

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival aka Coachella, takes place from 15 April – 23 April this year.

Long flowing skirts, flower crowns, and vintage cowboy boots are typically worn there as the festival’s uniform, and these items have come to be known as “Coachella style.”

Unlike the carefree festival attendees of 1999, celebrities now exploit the occasion as their own outdoor catwalk.

Actress Vanessa Hudgens has long been referred to as the “queen” of Coachella because to her effortless boho style, which was subsequently adopted and converted into collections by companies like H&M, Revolve, Forever 21, and ASOS.

Every year, we see thousands of copy-cat interpretations of this style, which you could argue are romanticised versions of what once was – the original flower-child, grunge look.

There will undoubtedly be a lot of denim, crochet, fringe, and mesh in 2023. But with a 149% growth in second-hand purchasing predicted between 2016 and 2022, driven by Gen-Z, it’s conceivable that festival goers will start to value originality and sustainability more.

While many influencers place a strong emphasis on sharp makeup looks and fashionable attire, we anticipate that this year will also bring about a rise in unconventional looks as influencers experiment with “apocalyptic” or “avant-apocalyptic” fashion trends.
