SANDI THOM – What If I’m Right

Scottish troubadour Sandi Thom may be better known these days for a public meltdown after Radio 2 rejected her latest single. Over a decade ago, though, ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker’ was topping the charts with its acoustic chug and tales of hedonistic delight. ‘What If I’m Right’ was standard second single fare – it didn’t push the boat out but didn’t get lost among the weeds either.

UK chart placing: 22 Indiependent rating: 6/10

Good or bad: More tuneful than its globe-gobbling predecessor, ‘What If I’m Right’ would have sank without a trace if it wasn’t riding on punk rock coattails.

There was plenty more we could have discussed, including Chumbawamba’s stomping ‘Amnesia’, Robin Thicke’s ‘For The Rest of My Life’ and Bloodhound Gang’s ‘Along Comes Mary’. If your curiosity has been piqued, the Spotify playlist above has all the follow-ups to smash hits. Enjoy… if you can.
