VAULT Festival has recently announced its return to venues across Waterloo for the first time since 2019. The festival, which boasts over 500 theatre, comedy, cabaret, and late-night shows, will run for eight weeks, from 24 January to 19 March 2023.
VAULT Festival Director & Co-Founder Andy George commented that: “It’s been a tumultuous few years for us and our artists. There have been many times when the story of VAULT Festival could have ended. But through those challenging moments we kept believing in the idea; that VAULT Festival can affect positive change in our world through joy and creativity. Our resolve has been pushed to the limit. But we’re back. And we can’t wait to share these fantastic artists and shows with everyone!”
This year, the theme of reclaiming joy is set to run throughout the festival, spotlighting artistry in today’s world. Taking place during the winter months, the festival aims to bring vibrance to London’s cold winter nights.
This exciting theme is further pushed through the announcement of a new purpose-built venue, The Flair Ground, holding an audience of 300, will become home to a selection of cabaret, drag, burlesque and circus performances.
The theme of reclaiming joy will be most easily found in the work of the VAULT Five. These artists are live performance makers from the festivals mentoring programme.
Other returners include Adam Scott Rowley, James Rowland and Roann McCloskey.
New comedy material will be presented by familiar and new faces alike. Chloe Petts, Sarah Keyworth, Nabil Abdul Rasheed and Stuart Goldsmith all return with works in progress of their new shows. The Free Association also return with their critically acclaimed improvisation shows.
