IDLES announce details for their upcoming album, Ultra Mono, set for release on September 25th on Partisan Records. The band has been teasing big news in the days leading up to the day of the announcement — and, boy, they weren’t kidding. The full Ultra Mono tracklist for the album is revealed, consisting of 12 tracks which are sure to deliver their iconic cathartic energy.
The British band garnered a dedicated fanbase due to the unrelenting energy in their live performances and the socially aware content in their lyrics. Released in 2018, Joy as an Act of Resistance, received acclaim from fans and critics alike and was nominated for a Mercury Prize.
The upcoming album is to be produced by Nick Launay and Adam Greenspan, while hip-hop producer Kenny Beats had a hand in the programming as well. Other established artists who contributed to the album include Jenny Beth (Savages), Warren Ellis (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), David Yow (Jesus Lizard), and jazz musician Jamie Cullum.
A video for their single ‘Mr. Motivator‘ was released on May 19, featuring a montage of fans working out to the song. Along with the recent announcements, a new video for the song ‘Grounds‘ has also been released.
Once word got out of the pre-order exclusives for the record, it didn’t take long for the site to crash due to the sheer number of visitors. It’s clear that interest for the band’s next outing hasn’t waned, even amidst a global pandemic. The band will also host three live stream performances on the 29th and 30th of August for those who have purchased tickets through the band’s site.
