Ubisoft has revealed when the Viking themed Discovery Tour will be released for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. On 19 October 2021, players will be able to experience the Discovery Tour as a free add on to the base game. This experience can also be purchased as a standalone edition, though this will not arrive until early 2022.
This will be the third tour in the franchise, following in the footsteps of Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey. This mode allows players to freely explore the world without enemies, to allow for greater exploration and opportunities to learn about the world. Both the Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Tours were well received by fans.
These tours will take a new approach to showcasing the world of Valhalla. Instead of giving players guided tours, this time they will take on different roles of different characters and complete quests. This change aims to bring players closer to the material of the world.
While completing the quests, players can interact with Discovery Sites that focus on a specific area of Viking or Anglo-Saxon culture and traditions.
Ubisoft is collaborating with several museum partners to ensure accuracy within its world. For the Viking Discovery Tour, they have worked with the UK’s Hampshire Cultural Trust, Preston Park Museum & Grounds, York Archaeological Trust, and The British Library; France’s Réunion des Musées Nationaux; and the National Museum of Denmark. These partners have provided images of items in their collections for players to look at.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Discovery Tour will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Amazon Luna, and Stadia on 19 October 2021 as a free expansion.
