In the wake of Assassin’s Creed Shadows delay Ubisoft has confirmed it is pulling its playable demo from the upcoming MCM X EGX.

The delay to Assassin’s Creed Shadows was announced a few days ago citing the need to “polish and refine the experience pushing further some of our key features”. The delay came just days after Ubisoft pulled out of the Tokyo Game Show. Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which was initially set for a November release, will now be released on February 14 2025. The game will be the first mainline Assassin’s Creed released in February.

In a post via social media Ubisoft stated, “Whilst we initially planned to have a playable Assassin’s Creed Shadows demo to share with you at EGX, due to the postponement of the game’s release date to 14th February 2025, this will no longer be available”. This move follows “softer than expected” sales for Ubisoft’s recent Star Wars Outlaws game.

EGX reshared the news, making its own statement via social media: “Unfortunately Assassin’s Creed Shadows will no longer be playable at MCM x EGX after the decision to push the game’s release date to 14 February. We appreciate this will be disappointing news, but we can’t wait to share more games you can try out at the show”.

EGX, which is teaming up with MCM comic conventions, is one of the biggest gaming conventions in the UK and is set to take place from the 25th to the 27th of October at ExCeL London. It has yet to share its full list of playable demos so it remains to be seen if any game will fill Assassin’s Creed’s shoes.

Assassins Creed Shadows will be released on 14 February 2025. It will be playable on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
