Beatrice Laus, known more commonly as Beabadoobee, has released her own rendition of Christmas classic, ‘Winter Wonderland’ through Apple Music. Each December, ‘Winter Wonderland’ makes its appearance on playlists curated both by major applications such as Apple Music but also on our own seasonal playlists.
Beabadoobee’s cover of this iconic song not only reflects her success this year, especially with her debut album Fake it Flowers released on 16th October, but also a break into the winter charts. The cover was also recorded in the infamous Abbey Roads Studios, further reflecting Beabadoobee’s success as notable clients of the studios include The Beatles, Florence and the Machine, and also Elliot Smith.
This 20-year-old Filipina from London breaks the hegemonic sphere of Christmas music, alongside artist Arlo Parks who has also released a Christmas cover through Apple Music. It is impressive and warming to see Christmas music diversify itself and for a young Filipina artist to break through barriers that exist in the music world but also in normative society.
