Tula, a Berlin-based group from Sweden, have released a new single ‘River’, and it is beautifully haunting and catchy. The band’s sound is a fascinating mixture of many magnificent artists; vocals which would fit snugly into an FKA twigs song open the track, and lyrically the song is reminiscent of Marika Hackman or Florence and the Machine. Rather than carbon copying the artists, Tula combine the most effective elements and create their own glorious tones which build and build to the wonderfully layered and flowing chorus. A simple beat gallops through the track and this combined with the clever soundscaping which can be heard when the track is played with headphones makes the song incredibly breathtaking.

This track shows that what Tula may create in the future is definitely worth looking out for, as already the change from the synth-focused music to this vocally mesmerising dramatic sound is stunning. Klas Åhlund has the produced the track so effectively that it has been lifted and built up to create this masterpiece.
Tula will be playing their debut UK show supporting Kid Wave on the 12th of March in London at The Stillery, and entry is free – we’d definitely recommend it.
