Track Review: Rainclouds // Dot Dash

Hailing from Washington D.C, post-punk band Dot Dash do a great impression of the Britpop era in track ‘Rainclouds’, which is as energetic as it is infectious.Taken from their fourth studio album, Earthquakes & Tidal Waves, ‘Rainclouds’ is one massive groove. Its hook-filled axe riffs and vigorous drum playing conjure up images of long road trips to the coast, windows down, and a warm summer breeze blowing through your hair.

Rising above the exuberant arrangement are Terry Banks’ vocals. “If concrete shoes are giving you the blues/ I’m footloose/ I’m fancy free” is his candid way of saying life’s pretty sweet, and we can’t help but agree.

This foot tapping, devil-may-care tune certainly feels like a new direction for Dot Dash.
