Angst-inducing lyrics, violent drumming, and steady, piercing guitar harmonies intertwine to create Field Studies’ new single ‘Money of America’. The track begins with a delicate subtlety, pairing soft, longing vocals with docile guitar melodies, before gradually building into a climax of texture and purposeful emotion. As the song morphs from its sweet, kitten-like opening, to its roaring, lion-esque conclusion, one can infer influences from Arcade Fire, with similar, almost indie-pop, vibes emitted by Young Kato.
Field Studies are a four piece, hailing from Nottingham, who have been garnering a lot of press coverage over recent months, with the lead up to their appearance at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage. There is no doubt that ‘Money of America’ will aid their propulsion to further heights, combining their hard hitting original sound with the confidence and finesse to pull it off.
