Fleets cropped up a few times here at The Indiependent in our 2015 track reviews, and our hopes of seeing them again in 2016 have been fulfilled with a new track, namely ‘Lucky Me’. Or rather, lucky you, because this track is absolutely superb and you should totally hear it right now.

The track is definitely more rock-orientated than previous tracks ‘Red Navels’ or ‘Babylon’, which had a slightly more poppy edge and were quite laid-back, with soft(er) guitars and spritzing bass. ‘Lucky Me’ starts off in your face with slices of distorted guitar, then builds up into a crashing wave of power and sneering vocals. It sounds like an auditory assault, with the biting guitar and steady drums firing on all cylinders for 2 and a half minutes of high octane rock.

It sounds like the Dead Kennedy’s mixed with Royal Blood, Nirvana, and just a bit of early White Stripes. That in itself is an accomplishment, and if Fleets continue producing gems such as this, it would be an injustice for them not to be famous.
