The wait is finally over. After six years, American rock-band, Delta Spirit have returned with their latest single ‘It Ain’t Easy.’ The release comes in preparation for their upcoming album, which is dropping this autumn. The long-awaited single is now available to stream on all platforms. However, that was not the only gripping announcement Delta Spirit had in-store, as the band also dropped a lyric video on the same day.
Delta Spirit do it like no other when it comes to combining energetic melodies with more complex lyrics. The kings of lyrical dissonance, some may say. This single portrays Delta Spirit’s take on the rock scene, yet there is clear growth to the group’s sound which makes it unnoticeable that they have taken such a prolonged break.
The lyrics could subtly align with the reasons why the band chose to take a break from producing music. Lead singer Matthew Vasquez writes, “for the longest time I would try to get in line.”Although these words are describing a heavily dependent relationship, it could also be linked to a struggle in creating music. The song is a suitable return for the band as it captures how Delta Spirit have advanced musically since 2014.
Delta Spirit have not disappointed and the release of these two tracks almost makes the six-year wait worth it. Their new album,‘What Is There,’ available from September 11th, 2020.
