Track Review: In My Head // Vladimir

Rising Scottish four-piece Vladimir – who describe their own musical style as “bleak” – threw themselves into the music scene late last year and have quickly gained themselves a reputation as one of Scotland’s most exciting new acts. Having toured tirelessly over the past months, both as headliners and support, their latest track ‘In My Head’ was chosen as one of XFM’s break out tracks of the week. With a good listen, you can see why.

‘In My Head’ draws you in with an unavoidably catchy, heavy drum beat and vocals not dissimilar to that of Kasabian or Kaiser Chiefs. Whilst the track is undoubtedly repetitive – and most definitely fits into the band’s self-confessed “bleak” vibe – many rock or heavy indie fans will find something difficult to pinpoint but undoubtedly likeable about Vladimir’s latest offering.

Whilst ‘In My Head’ is a good track, anyone wishing to explore the band should check out their other tracks too; ‘Born Slippy’ is another solid construction, whilst ‘Come Over’ is quite possibly their best. Whichever appeals to you, rock fans will most likely find a Vladimir track that floats their boat.
