George Ezra is an English singer/songwriter who rose to fame in 2013 after the release of his first hit single, ‘Budapest’, and his debut album Wanted on Voyage. George Ezra is now set to release his third studio album, entitled Gold Rush Kid, in June of this year. ‘Green Green Grass’ is the second glimpse from this eagerly-awaited album.

‘Green Green Grass’ glides in with chants of “throw a party” before George Ezra’s unique vocals come into play. The cheerful beat allows the song to immediately hook the listener, and it is clear from the outset that Ezra has once again captured the feel-good spirit of his previous releases.

The track is infectiously uplifting and embeds a zesty, energetic vibe that remains throughout. George Ezra’s ability to effortlessly produce joyful and loveable hits is unmatched.

Inspiration for this song came from George Ezra’s experiences whilst on holiday with friends in St Lucia. Ezra stumbled upon a street party funeral celebrating the lives of three people, which the singer described as ‘really beautiful’ – hence the lyrics from the catchy chorus “you better throw a party on the day that I die”.

George Ezra transitions a potentially gloomy subject matter into a wholesome and warming outlook of making the most of life and not taking it too seriously. Ezra’s positive and lighthearted personality seems to shine through and match that of his music.

This second single will certainly make fans even more enthusiastic for the release of the upcoming full album, as well as the beginning of his UK tour, which Ezra announced will kick off in September. George Ezra provides a vibrant, mood-lifting anthem in this track, which is ideal for the summer months ahead of us.
