Track Review: For Laura, For The Morning // Mono Sideboards

If Fleetwood Mac is your go-to band, ‘For Laura, For The Morning’ by Mono Sideboards will have you swaying along. Opening with muffled vocals, an emphasis is placed on the calming music itself, specifically the steady drums. The more prominent vocals in the chorus give the song the harmony and spirit it lacked in the previously simplistic and rather stripped-back verses.

The voice recording bit in the middle of the song – reminiscent of The Cults’ song ‘Go Outside’ – adds an eerily beautiful aspect to the song, as it features people yelling and gunshots. The end of the song contrasts greatly with the soothing and simple start. The rougher sounding ending livens the song, featuring more instrumentation like an electric guitar.

This nostalgic and sombre tune leaves you yearning for more, which will be luckily be available in the form of the Mono Sideboards’ upcoming album, The Pains of Being Frank Lamb.
