BLOXX have returned with surprise release ‘Everything I’ve Ever Learned’, a track displaying the same unreserved, upbeat energy that first drew people to the Uxbridge four piece. The song is BLOXX’s first new music since their debut album Lie out Loud was released in 2020.
Lyrics explore lessons that life throws at us, and how to move on from life’s inevitable mess. The sonic foundations and multiple layers of instrumentation shows the band building on the features they’ve already mastered. Frontwoman Fee Booth’s confident voice and the powerful guitar backing makes this song their best to date. Booth said: “This song was really important in my journey to stop trying to understand everything.”
The accompanying video is set in a classroom, showing a clear juxtaposition between the lessons we are taught at school and the lessons we learn through life. Their honest expression with lyrics such as “does everyday feel like it’s falling / do your mistakes always come crawling” shows their skill in being realistic and relatable. I’m sure I’m not the only one that needed this reassurance, with a catchy tune to bop to in the kitchen.
