Mumford & Sons are quick on the music video draw recently. After dropping the brilliantly bizarre video for ‘The Wolf’ last month, they’ve released a new music video for the new single ‘Ditmas’ from their most recent album Wilder Mind. There’s been a lot of mixed responses to the bands most recent record due to the experimental change in sound; from pure folk they’ve shifted more towards an electric rock hybrid sound, but that doesn’t detract from how good ‘Ditmas’ is as a song.

The video for the propulsive cut from Wilder Mind features a Ukraine Cossack and his horse gradually forming a bond and after much patience and determination, he finally is able to control the horse, standing atop the saddle. The video concept is also an interesting way to look at this track. If you’ve been a fan of Mumford & Sons before and you’re struggling to adapt to this new shift in sound, then stick with it. It’s a song that emphatically showcases the band’s new sound, yet loses none of the intimacy or melody-rich appeal of the songs that made them as big as they are today.
