Track Review: Dancing Bug // Le Boom & Æ MAK

Complementing each other wonderfully, Dublin duo Le Boom have teamed up with Aoife McCann (AKA Æ MAK) to create the deliciously poppy ‘Dancing Bug’. The track stems from using dance as a coping mechanism for anxiety: McCann explains, “‘Dancing Bug’ is about falling into your bedroom after a bad day and dancing like fire to your favourite song to escape the stuff you just had to deal with… That energy taking you off into the other world that you’re visualising as you dance.”

The track’s synth blips build and swell to create a layered sound that is as unpretentious as it is catchy, a welcome breath of fresh air from the overproduced EDM we’ve become used to. ‘Dancing Bug’ is shamelessly optimistic, with a bubbly, bouncy feel to it. The accompanying video, directed by the artists themselves, sees the streets of Stoneybatter in Dublin City fill with brightly contrasting colours and gorgeously choreographed dance.

Le Boom are set to embark on their biggest tour yet, including dates across the UK and Ireland in Portsmouth, Cork, Belfast, Limerick and Derry.
