Track Review: Blue Dreams // The Lukewarm

The Lukewarm, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, have recently self-released their first EP eponymously. They’re another band trying their hand at the indie movement, with a wide variety of familiar influences. In their track ‘Blue Dreams’, there are definitely hints of some of the dreamier Radiohead songs, as well as vocals which echo those of Alex Turner. It’s a very chilled and melancholy tune, with soft cymbals and reverb-soaked guitar.

Vocalist Caleb Campbell uses his pure tone to deliver the moody lyrics, backed up by understated-yet-effective keyboard thrown into the song’s balance. As the song concludes, there’s a building up of fuzz on the guitar and experimental keyboard, with improvisation from Campbell. This is a demonstration of four lads playing music that they genuinely love, and it’s refreshing – ‘Blue Dreams’ is a really promising and accomplished track from the young band, which will surely precede great things to come from them in their future releases.
