Always keeping us on our toes, London based musician Mabel Mcvey is experimenting with new styles and sounds, this time with the help of Ghanaian artist King Promise.
This Afroswing single combines much-loved elements of both artist’s music expertise to form a well-rounded Afrobeats hit. The whistles, the syncopated drums and Mabel’s easy straightforward “All over you, all over you” chorus makes this a carefree and party-ready record.
King Promise uses his verse to cleverly flirt, “No fit find this your body for eBay”, calling his love interest priceless. He later instructs,“Take off that Shein, make I put you in designer”, before ending on “My Gen Z bella donna”. The worldwide sensation has mastered all areas of love.
‘All Over You’, is reminiscent of ‘My Love’ by Little Mix star, Leigh Anne and Afrobeats’ leading lady, Ayra Starr. Mcvey’s release leans into its dancehall elements while the latter takes a more Pop focused approach.
It’s more than just similar sounds that make these two tracks similar, they’re both the genius of unstoppable producer Magicsticks. His most popular work, ‘UNAVAILABLE’ by Davido, is a Grammy nominated record that topped the UK Afrobeats chart for five weeks.
It seems this musician is taking control of her career, now more than ever. ‘All Over You’ follows a string of recent releases since last year such as ‘Stupid Dumb’, ‘Look At My Body (Pt. II)’ and ‘Vitamins’, which show a more liberated and expressive side to the Pop and R&B mainstay. Wherever 2025 takes this innovative recording artist, we’re definitely going to be all over her.
